Climate change impact assessment under data scarcity by hydrological and hydrodynamic modeling in Izmit Bay/Turkey

چکیده
To assess climate change impact on the hydrology of Izmit Bay, a coupled model chain using results four combinations Global Climate Models (GCMs) and Regional (RCMs) consisting two hydrological models (mGROWA PROMET) one hydrodynamic (MIKE 3HD) was established. data 4 GCM-RCM were applied to both models. The resulting 8 streamflow then MIKE 3HD possible situations in Bay. Related indicate range future regimes suitable for analysis In order evaluate effects changes only bay, bay considered as closed terms hydrodynamics. There is clear indication that induced impacts may influence sea level Bay minor extent. However, water exchange processes have much bigger influence. Hence, it suggested further simulations should be run once hydrologic regime Marmara Sea has been assessed broader macro-scale study.

Multimodel assessment of water scarcity under climate change.
Water scarcity severely impairs food security and economic prosperity in many countries today. Expected future population changes will, in many countries as well as globally, increase the pressure on available water resources. On the supply side, renewable water resources will be affected by projected changes in precipitation patterns, temperature, and other climate variables. Here we use a lar...

Growing sensitivity of maize to water scarcity under climate change
Climate change can reduce crop yields and thereby threaten food security. The current measures used to adapt to climate change involve avoiding crops yield decrease, however, the limitations of such measures due to water and other resources scarcity have not been well understood. Here, we quantify how the sensitivity of maize to water availability has increased because of the shift toward longe...
متن کاملMekong River flow and hydrological extremes under climate change
Climate change poses critical threats to waterrelated safety and sustainability in the Mekong River basin. Hydrological impact signals from earlier Coupled Model Intercomparison Project phase 3 (CMIP3)-based assessments, however, are highly uncertain and largely ignore hydrological extremes. This paper provides one of the first hydrological impact assessments using the CMIP5 climate projections...
متن کاملAssessing Hydrological Impacts of Climate Change: Modeling Techniques and Challenges
Climate Change refers to any systematic change in the long-term statistics of climate elements (such as temperature, pressure, or winds) sustained over several decades or longer time periods. General Circulation Models (GCMs) are tools designed to simulate time series of climate variables globally, accounting for effects of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and resulting global climate change....
